Morgans join the Suffolks pulling sleighrides!

Morgans pulling the sleigh

In early 2008 Bekah set out on a quest to find a team of smaller, dual purpose horses who could be ridden, but who could also help with farm work. Morgans were the obvious choice, being from Vermont and known for their ability to work in harness and under saddle. After an extensive search we brought home "Zephyr", a 3 yr old Morgan/Canadian cross, and "Sam", a 10 yr old Lambert style morgan. They are now working together quite nicely, pulling the sleigh for Winter Carnival sleighrides. We look forward to working them into the mix of spring farm chores.

Join us for our Winter Gathering, February 14

At the home of Norm Tebo, Worthington, MA

For more info, directions and to RSVP, please call Norm: 413-238-5302. We will be working with his team of Suffolk geldings doing some woods work and looking at the issues around "restarting" a team that has been on vacation. The day will get started around 10 am. We will harness and drive the team, get oriented on Norm's land and hear about his goals for his horses and his property. Lunch will be a potluck style meal with lots of time for visiting, catching up with friends and meeting new folks. After lunch we'll get the team hooked on some logs and haul some firewood and/or hay from a neighboring barn. Bring your questions, ideas and challenges, we'll do our best to address them.
