Join us for our Winter Gathering, February 16
Does' Leap Farm, East Fairfield, VT
This will be a full day of horse-fun to ease your cabin fever! Join us for a day of demonstrations and conversations around integrating draft horses into a working farm. Help us welcome Kristen & George to the wonderful world of farming with horses! At Does' Leap they milk about 35 goats and make cheese. They also raise chickens, beef and pigs. They have recently added a team of Belgans to the mix to haul firewood, spread manure and do other farm chores. We will do some work in the "Play Pen" and then harness the team. We will demo a Forest Products logging arch as well as Mark Cowdrey's Firewood Arch, discussing various aspects of working horses into the routines of a working farm.
We'll share a potluck lunch, so bring a dish and an index card with a complete list of ingredients to inform those with food allergies/intolerance issues. Bring your questions and requests. Kristen & George will "pass the hat" to cover expenses, so a small donation would be appreciated. RSVP is requested but not essential. For more info call us.
Directions to Does'Leap from the south:
Take I-89 to Exit 11, turn right on Rt 2, then right on Rt 117, then right again on Gov. Peck Highway. These three turns are all very close together. Take Gov. Peck Hwy to a left turn on Brown's Trace Road. Go through Jericho, turn right on Rt 15, go through Underhill and up to Cambridge, turn left on 108 in Jeffersonville. Go 8.2 miles up 108, watch for a black mailbox on the right with the number 1703 on it at the bottom of the dip. If you pass Whitney Road on the left, you have just missed it. Watch for the evener leaning against the mailbox. See you there!
We currently have our own eggs, grass-fed lamb, free-range pork and poultry for sale in the farm store, and perennials from the greenhouse shop out front (summer only). Nature trails are open (inquire at our farm store for a map) and hayrides are available throughout the season.
